Who We Are
The Nepean Seniors Recreation Centre opened its doors at the Nepean Sportsplex on October 30, 1988. The Centre’s ever-changing list of activities and programs have been the result of comments and suggestions submitted by our members to the Volunteer Management Board who, in turn, works with the Program Coordinator, who is a City of Ottawa staff member.
The Volunteer Management Board is made up of up to nine members, elected annually at the Centre’s General Meeting held in the fall of each year, with the term beginning on the following January 1. Most Board members serve three year terms and may vary their responsibilities during their term. Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from September to June.
Since we share the facilities with the Nepean Sportsplex, we enjoy easy access to all of the Sportsplex activities, as well as our own. The Nepean Sportsplex is a multi-purpose facility serving residents and visitors to Ottawa.
As part of its services to its citizens, the City of Ottawa provides the facilities and staff for the Nepean Seniors Recreation Centre.
