craft group for seniors knitting club ottawa nepean

Creative Crafters

Creative crafts have been active since 2002.  The ladies who belong to the group work at many different projects.  We knit sweaters, hats, mitts, scarves and many other interesting items.  We make quilts, placemats, tea cozies, aprons, jewelry bags, wall hangings and oven mitts.  Our ladies are always adding new items to our stock.

Many of these items are on display in the showcases in the Heritage Room and on the concourse landing.  These items are available for purchase at any time.

At our Open House and the Christmas breakfast we have items for sale on our craft tables.  Money received from the sale of these items is turned over to the Senior Management Board for their use here at the Centre.  In fact we are one of the major fund raisers for the Centre.  In that way we all benefit.

We also send several items to charities such as the Snow Suit Fund, as well as making and filling bags with mitts, toques, scarves and toiletries for the homeless men and women in our community.

We always welcome new members.  Experience is not needed as we have ladies who are willing to help anyone wanting to learn to knit or sew.

We also accept donations of wool and cotton fabric as we rely on this source for our projects.

We meet on Thurs. in Hall F from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Membership is required to join our group.

We hope you will consider joining us.

We do not have the usual Nepean Sportsplex Seniors Guide. Instead the City has produced a Guide for all seniors programs in the City.

To search for programs at the Nepean Sportsplex, when you open the Guide, press Ctrl + F and then type Nepean. It will link you to the appropriate eight Seniors programs.
